DJI's Ronin returns as the RS 2, RSC 2 to stabilize cameras big and small

As it does with its camera drones, DJI updated its Ronin-S and Ronin-SC three-axis camera gimbals based on feedback from professionals. The new models, the $849 RS 2 and $499 RSC 2, are lighter and more flexible in design while bulking up on features and without sacrificing battery life. In Australia and the UK, the prices for the RS 2 are AU$1,299 and £699, respectively, while for the RSC 2 they're AU$699 and £389.

The RS 2, made to hold a payload of 4.5 kilograms (10 pounds), weighs only 1.3kg (2.9 pounds) due in part to a switch to a structure of carbon fiber. However, it still has a battery large enough to get it through 12 hours of use, and it can now be quick-charged in 15 minutes for an additional 2 hours of use.

The stabilizer's algorithm has been optimized to actually learn how you use it and adjust the gimbal's tilt and angle accordingly. A SuperSmooth mode was also added that increases stability to accommodate longer lenses of up to 100mm.

The RSC 2 has a Briefcase mode so it can be slung forward for lower shots.

DJI

Other additions include axis locks that make it easier to balance and transport, an Arca-Swiss and Manfrotto-compatible mounting plate, a built-in 1.4-inch touchscreen for settings and camera framing, and a dial for focus adjustments.

The RSC 2 is designed for smaller mirrorless cameras but with stronger motors can handle a dynamic payload of 3kg (6.6 lbs.). This means, like the RS 2, it can support more weight but performance might take a hit. Still, that's a lot of weight for a stabilizer that weighs only 1.2kg (2.7 lbs.). The RSC 2 also has up to 12 hours of battery life and a quick-charge option as well as axis locks and dual-layer camera mounting plate found on the RS 2. Instead of touchscreen, though, the RSC 2 has a 1-inch built-in OLED display.

Both models were designed to do more with help from a growing list of accessories. Those include things like a cheese plate, a focus wheel, a dual-handle grip and DJI's RavenEye Image Transmission System for remote operation from up to 200 meters away.

Both gimbals are available today from DJI and at retail. They can be purchased alone or as part of a Pro Combo with a phone holder, focus motor, RavenEye, a carrying case and more for $999 for the RS 2 and $739 for the RSC 2.

Deleting Our Smart Home Setups for Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant

The CNET Smart Home was a mess. That's not to say there was dirt and trash everywhere. It was a mess on the digital front. We'd used it as a testing ground for years, adding new devices and seeing how they worked with all three major smart home platforms. As a result, our smart home setups for Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant were overloaded with ghosts of gadgets past.

With spring upon us, we decided it was time to give the Smart Home a fresh start. The clutter of old devices was also making it more difficult to test newer gadgets, as we couldn't put a new smart display into the kitchen without running into a million other devices that we'd named "Kitchen Display" at one point or another.

You might have encountered similar issues if you have a lot of gadgets in your smart home, especially if you've added and removed different devices over the years. Sometimes, even if you delete the old device called "Living Room Lamp," your smart assistant will still get confused when trying to control the new version of a device with that same name.

Check out the video above to see the process in action. We also walk through smaller-scale maintenance like deleting an individual device in the vid. If you're sure you're ready for a full reset, here are the steps for each assistant.

Alexa

  • Head to alexa.amazon.com on a computer. Note: You can't use the app for this process; you need the web interface.
  • From the menu on the left, hit Smart Home
  • Then click on Devices
  • Scroll down and hit Remove All and then confirm.

You can and probably should also do that with Scenes in the left plane, or it'll retain the scenes you've set up with your old gadgets.

Siri

  • Open the Home app
  • Tap the Home icon at the top left
  • Go to Home Settings
  • Scroll down and tap Remove Home

Note that this eliminates all devices, all scenes and all automations. It's even more thorough than Amazon's.

Google Assistant

With Google, you can use the app, but if you've given other members of your family access to your smart home, you have to remove them first before you can delete the home.

  • Open the Google Home app
  • Go to Settings
  • Then tap Household
  • Now tap each family member and delete them

Once that's done, you can delete the home.

  • Go back to Settings
  • Tap Delete this home
  • Then confirm by hitting Delete

With the homes deleted, you can start building each one from scratch to fit your current setup without worrying about ghost data mucking up the works. Again, check out the video above for smaller-scale maintenance and a walkthrough for factory resetting your smart speakers.

Uber's New Safety Toolkit Offers Real-Time Help From Safety Agent

Uber's New Safety Toolkit Offers Real-Time Help From Safety Agent

Uber on Tuesday announced its upgraded Safety Toolkit with new options designed to improve user safety. New features include Live Help, which gives riders and drivers real-time access to an ADT safety agent via call or text. For now, this feature is only available in the US.

When a user opens Live Help, the responding agent can monitor and stay in contact during an ongoing trip, as well as call 911 to provide important information for the rider or driver.

The revamped Safety Toolkit also more widely rolls out a more discreet way to text 911. According to Uber, when a user texts 911, the Uber app will pre-populate a message with vehicle details, location and destination information for faster communication with dispatchers. The feature first rolled out in 2019, but is now expanding to nearly 60% of the US.

Uber originally offered an in-app 911 emergency button for passengers, which launched in 2018, and rolled out later for drivers. The button was added in response to rides that reportedly ended in dangerous situations with women alleging sexual assault against drivers in multiple states.

Best Apple Watch Bands, According to the CNET Staff Who Wear Them

One of Apple's smartest moves was to let people replace the band on the Apple Watch with a third-party option. Having that choice means that no matter what event you're going to, or what activity you're engaged in, you can wear your Apple Watch, with no need to buy a different timepiece. If you're on the fence about buying an Apple Watch, maybe these flashy bands will help you take the leap.

CNET team members use plenty of different straps in their day-to-day lives, and of course, we all have our favorites. Some of us like things to be super simple, while others like a lot of variety and patterns. But all the bands on this list are excellent quality and suit our purposes well.

Nomad

I've tried out a lot of different Apple Watch straps, and I've always liked the look and feel of the Nike Sport Band. But this one beats even that. It has a slightly less sporty and more rugged look, and the materials feel premium and like they're designed to hold up well. It comes in a few different color options, but I've yet to remove the Marine Blue one since I got it.

The clasp holds nice and secure, so I don't really have to worry about my watch falling off. I've been using this band for a few months now and recommend the product to everyone. I've received more compliments about the band than I can remember. Nomad makes some really high-quality accessories for Apple gear, and this is no exception.

--Jared DiPane

Russell Holly/CNET

I've used just about every fitness watch strap made by Apple and third parties, but I always come back to the standard Apple Sport Band. It isn't the most comfortable band I've ever worn, but it's the easiest to clean by far, and the colors haven't faded at all, despite my constant use in sunlight.

--Russell Holly

John Falcone/CNET

I'll be honest: I picked this strap pretty much at random because I liked the weathered, faux leather earth-tone look in the photo -- and the incredibly low price. But six months later, I'm really liking it. It's comfy, and it's held up nicely, despite a couple of unintended dunkings. What more could you want for such a low price?

--John P. Falcone

Sarah Mitroff/CNET

I need my Apple Watch band to be completely unfussy. I don't want to fiddle with buckles -- I just want to slip on my watch and go. This inexpensive band is perfect for just that. It's a single strip of elastic without any sliders or anything else to adjust. It's soft and stretchy enough to hold the watch firmly against my wrist so that the heart rate monitor sensors work correctly, without being too tight.

I can vouch only for the styles where the design is woven into the band (not the solid color or printed options). I first bought the Neon Orange color, and that's the one I still use today. I bought a second band, the solid Wine color option, and it's stiff and scratchy by comparison.

--Sarah Mitroff

Spigen

When I'm not using the above-mentioned Nomad Sport Band, my other go-to Apple Watch strap is the Spigen Rugged Armor. The style is totally different, but as someone who's into G-Shock watches, I absolutely love the way this one looks and feels. Instead of sliding the band in on each side, you snap your Apple Watch into this, and it provides protection for the sides of the watch as well.

It comes in a few different colors, and I think right now I own them all. It doesn't make the buttons any harder to press either, which is a huge advantage. If you're someone who's rough on your Apple Watch, this is a great option to consider.

How to Make Your Outdoor Zoom Meetings Sound Better

How to Make Your Outdoor Zoom Meetings Sound Better

Two years of pandemic living has shifted my default workspace from an office to the now-common sidewalk seating outside almost every cafe or coffee shop in New York. Weather permitting, it's also my favorite place to join Zoom or other web meetings. And don't worry, I always use a headset, usually a set of AirPods Pro, to avoid bothering those around me.

But it's not a perfect system. Sitting outside, even in a semi-enclosed wooden sidewalk shed, there's a lot of noise around me. Besides other human beings, I've got to contend with cars, trucks and buses driving by a few feet away, as well as occasional police, ambulance and fire engine sirens. The result is that my outgoing audio -- what the other people in the meetings hear through my mic -- is often noisy or unintelligible, and I would get a lot of complaints about it.

apple-airpods-pro-red-background.png
Sarah Tew/CNET

In this particular case, using a MacBook and AirPods, I used a quick tweak to greatly improve my audio, which was greatly appreciated by the other people in my meetings.

The problem is that the microphone built into the AirPods is merely OK at best, even with a directional mic on each earbud and behind-the-scenes audio cleanup. However, the MacBook Pro I was using has a high-quality three-mic array. In addition to the better mics -- and the fact that my voice is actually projecting in the direction of those mics -- the Apple-silicon-powered MacBook Pro has a ton of computational power to do all that behind-the-scenes AI sweetening and noise filtering. (The Zoom app tries to help with that as well.)

Here's what you want your Zoom settings to look like. Except your AirPods probably aren't named after me.

Dan Ackerman/CNET

So after you pop in your AirPods or other earbuds, navigate to Zoom > Preferences > Audio. There you'll see separate pulldown menus labeled Speaker and Microphone. Under Speaker, select your AirPods. Under Microphone, select your laptop's built-in mic. In my case, it was labeled MacBook Pro Microphone. That's it. You're done.

In the middle of a Zoom meeting, I made this voice input switch, as I was having trouble competing with a busy street corner and a nearby subway entrance. Everyone on the call immediately noticed the difference and said I sounded much clearer.

Many Windows laptops have excellent built-in mics as well, so this isn't a Mac-only tip. Similarly, I was using AirPods, but this goes for other earbuds, too.

Or, you could always just wear a giant gaming headset with a microphone boom arm, which is always a good look for your local coffee shop.

Oppo's new foldable phone may have solved the crease problem

There's a new foldable phone in town: The Oppo Find N. After teasing its new foldable last week, the Chinese electronics-maker launched its latest Find N foldable phone on Wednesday, during the second day of its "Inno Day" event.

The new phone, which will be sold only in China starting on Dec. 23, is a little smaller than rival foldable devices like Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold line. The Find N has a similar design to the Z Fold, but sports a 5.49-inch outer display and a 7.1-inch inner screen. Samsung's phone, by contrast, has a 6.2-inch screen on the front and a 7.6-inch display when opened.

Similar to classic clamshell phones, the Find N has a wider 18:9 aspect ratio that makes it more natural to use as a regular phone when closed. Samsung, meanwhile, has a more narrow front display on its Z Fold line.

Like the Z Fold, there are five cameras on the Find N. Both the inside and front screens have 32-megapixel hole-punch cameras for selfies and video chats, while the rear adds three additional sensors: a 50-megapixel main camera, a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 13-megapixel telephoto.

Oppo Find N cameras

The rear cameras on the Oppo Find N.

Eli Blumenthal/CNET

A Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and 12GB of RAM power the device, which is running Oppo's ColorOS 12, based on Android 11. As you'd expect, Oppo's fast wireless and wired charging are here, with the Find N supporting the company's 33-watt SuperVOOC Flash Charge for wired charging and 15-watt AirVOOC for wireless charging (as well as regular Qi wireless chargers). There is also 10-watt reverse wireless charging, so it can charge other devices wirelessly.

The company says that using the SuperVOOC wired charging, the phone and its 4,500-mAh battery can go from dead to 55% in 30 minutes and to 100% in 70 minutes.

Although the Find N isn't IP68-rated for water- and dust-resistance, Oppo says that it "does go through rigorous water-resistance and durability testing to ensure the device can easily cope with things like sweat, moisture and light drizzle that are regularly encountered in everyday usage scenarios."

Oppo Find N open

It's hard to find a crease on the Find N.

Eli Blumenthal/CNET

Oppo's first foldable isn't as notable for its design as it is for its comparatively premium feel. The hinge on the Find N takes advantage of what Oppo calls a "water-drop" design, allowing for the phone to more evenly fold closed. This means that not only is there no wedge or gap when the screen is folded, but there's also a much less noticeable crease when you use the inside display.

Oppo, citing testing lab TUV, says the Find N has a crease that's "up to 80% less noticeable" than other foldable devices. I've briefly used the Find N and the statement did seem to hold true. Compared to the Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 2, the crease on the Find N isn't just harder to see, regardless of angle, it's also harder to discern by touch.

When I drag my fingers across the 7.1-inch display, it feels like a regular tablet. Like Samsung's recent foldables, the display incorporates a layer of ultrathin glass for added durability.

Oppo's ColorOS software, however, means the overall experience -- at least outside of China -- is far from perfect.

img-3041

The closed Find N is thicker than a deck of playing cards.

Eli Blumenthal/CNET

As this is a China-only product, the Find N lacks Google services, including the Play Store. I had some issues but was eventually able to get a Play Store APK to install. I could even download some apps, but a few had issues properly displaying or taking advantage of Oppo's enhancements for multitasking. Some, like ESPN, wouldn't open in the Find N's split-screen mode.

In an interview with journalists, Pete Lau, the OnePlus founder who's now Oppo's chief product officer, says the lack of third-party app support for foldable devices is part of the reason why Oppo is focusing solely on China for the release of this device.

"If the apps that users use most in their daily life are not well adapted on a foldable, then a foldable will not be delivering the value that it should be delivering," Lau says. In China, he adds, Oppo is contacting individual developers to optimize their apps for the new design. "And that's really a big, heavy workload."

OnePlus and Oppo are two sub-brands (among many) owned by Chinese conglomerate BBK Electronics.

The issue of proper app support isn't unique to Oppo or the Find N. It's something that both Samsung and Google have been working to address.

Google, in particular, has been working to better optimize Android for foldable devices and most recently announced plans to release Android 12L early next year. The search giant says this update is designed for foldable phones and tablets, it should include improvements that make it easier to multitask and use apps on larger screens.

Lau says that while Oppo is in touch with Google about creating general guidelines for how Android operates on "different aspect ratios," his company is not working with the search giant on optimizing Android specifically for the Find N.

How to Transfer Your WhatsApp Chat History from Android to iPhone

WhatsApp has over 2 billion users, sending hundreds of billions of messages every single day. That's a lot of conversations, and if you're a WhatsApp user who is switching from an Android over to an iPhone, you don't want to lose all of those precious texts in an instant.

For a while now, there hasn't been an official or even easy way to transfer existing WhatsApp conversations from Android to iOS. That may not seem like a major issue, because you could always start new conversations, but if you have photos and videos of important memories in those messages, you definitely want to transfer them over.

Read moreWhatsApp Now Lets You Move Chats, Photos From Android to iPhone

That's why Tuesday Apple and WhatsApp announced an updated process for transferring their Move to iOS app to include your WhatsApp history when transferring data from your old Android to a new iPhone. Here's what you need to know and how to do it.

Thinking about making the move to iOS? Check out which iPhone model might be best for you, as well as this review of the latest iPhone 13. If you're already an iPhone owner, read more about Apple's forthcoming mobile operating system, iOS 16. Here are some new features you can expect from iOS 16 and how to download the iOS 16 developer beta right now.

Before you start...

You must meet a few software requirements on both devices. For this to work, you need to be running:

  • Android 5 (Lollipop) or later
  • iOS 15.5 or later

Also, you need to download the latest version of Move to iOS and WhatsApp Messenger on your Android. The WhatsApp version with the transfer feature is currently in beta, and will take about a week to get to all users.

Connect your Android and iOS devices

Grab your Android and iPhone and do two things: Make sure both devices are fully charged (or plugged in to a power source) and connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Now, with your Android and iPhone side by side, do the following:

1On your new iPhone, begin the process of setting up a new phone. Make sure to connect to the same Wi-Fi network as the Android, or else this won't work.

Once you get to the Apps & Data section, tap Move Data fromAndroid. Next, hit Continue until you see a one-time six-digit code, which you'll need to enter on your Android later.

2. On your Android, open the Move to iOS app, hit Continue and agree to the terms and conditions. You'll also want to grant the app access to your Android's location, calendar, text messages and other info. This will allow you to transfer your data over to the iPhone.

Enter the six-digit code from your iPhone into your Android and connect to the Wi-Fi network created.

Transfer your WhatsApp message history

If the connection is successful, you'll then be able to choose which data to transfer over, such as apps, photos and videos and contacts. You should also the option to transfer over your WhatsApp history. Check the WhatsApp option, as well as anything else you want to port over, and continue on with the transfer process.

Note: This service uses end-to-end encryption, so your data, including your WhatsApp messages, is not shared with or seen by Android, Apple or any third parties.

Once the transfer is complete, you should see a WhatsApp icon on your home screen or in your app library on your iPhone. Open WhatsApp and then authenticate your account to view your existing conversations.

'The Internet's Best Friend': TikTok Comedian Gets Laughs While Raising Mental Health Awareness

'The Internet's Best Friend': TikTok Comedian Gets Laughs While Raising Mental Health Awareness

The negative effects of social media can be substantial. But then again, so can the positive ones. A 2019 study found that routine social media use is associated with improved social wellbeing, positive mental health and self-rated health. This suggests that social media can be a good thing if you're an intentional and mindful user.

Social media can be a powerful tool for expressing yourself, bringing awareness to social issues and sharing compelling stories that resonate with your audience. Enter Elyse Myers, a comedian who uses platforms like TikTok and Instagram to share stories (like her infamous date where she bought 100 tacos), to make people laugh and to talk about her mental health. In a world of filters that give you bunny ears, there is Myers. She has become a staple of authenticity and honesty that people look to; she's even lending her expertise to events like a mental health panel at VidCon next month.

I had the chance to sit down and talk to Myers about how she uses access to 5.3 million followers across platforms to normalize things like anxiety, depression and self-care

Social media can be used to talk about important topics

In the last few years, especially with the rising popularity of TikTok, social media has become a prominent tool for discussing important topics -- including mental health. If you've scrolled through Instagram or TikTok, you've probably come across Myers and her trademark "Great question, I would love to tell you." Her approachability and passion for bringing attention to topics like anxiety and depression with her storytelling have earned her the title of "The internet's best friend."

Elyse Myers standing in a doorway holding sunglasses, a notebook and a cup of coffee
Elyse Myers TikTok

For Myers, using her platforms to cover these topics came about naturally, she said. "I never really like woke up one day and thought, you know what, today I'm going to talk about my depression. It just naturally kind of happened because it's something that I'm so passionate about," Myers said.

"The more we can casually drop it into our conversations and not apologize for it, I think that that's a really powerful thing, and I think that more people need to do that," she added.

She described a journey of being more open and intentional with her platform over time. Besides making people laugh, she wanted to destigmatize normal (yet sensitive) things many people live with. And it turned out that people connected to her and what she had to say.

"Early on, I was talking about my anxiety and social anxiety. I think I was more pointed with my conversations when I realized that not a lot of people are doing it online and people really resonated with it. I just was so encouraged that people were encouraged by my videos talking about mental health."

You can create and engage in a meaningful community

Social media isn't just a place to bring awareness to things; it's also a place to build and engage in a community. Myers took the time to cultivate connections with her viewers. "I have made a huge point of being very active in my comments and creating community. It's really important for me to not just create content dumping on people that are consuming it and walking away. I don't do that in real life, and I don't want to do that online," she said.

Many have latched onto the positivity Myers offers, which has led to a remarkable community that celebrates mental health and healthy boundaries. The comment sections of her videos, which she described as "overwhelmingly positive," have become a place to connect, share stories and encourage others. And make real change in their lives.

Elyse Myers smiling while holding a mason jar and talking to the camera
Elyse Myers TikTok

"I've had people share with me that because I have been so open to talking about my mental health, they've found a therapist for the first time in their life. Or that they have told their families that they've been struggling with certain mental illnesses or addictions," Myers said.

Communities can be a really powerful thing, both on and off social media. Myers shared an anecdote about a group of Patreon subscribers who "fell in love with being friends" and threw one woman a virtual baby shower. They met through Myers' Patreon, and their friendship developed past casual commenters and into clicking "I'll be there" on an e-invite.

But you'll have to manage the negativity

With the good comes the bad -- and there's plenty of negativity on social media. Even with the success stories and actual friendships she has helped grow, nasty comments have been a part of the process. Myers described her experience of becoming "less of a person" to some as her platforms grew.

"I think that people originally, when my content started coming out, still saw me as a whole person and that it was a person behind the videos," Myers shared. "As my followers have grown, as my influence has grown a little bit and my presence online has grown, people have gotten more comfortable with the fact that maybe I won't see all of the comments." And so they may feel more free to say negative things.

Myers is a comedian with millions of people viewing her content. So, yes, she may get more negativity than most, but those experiences are not limited to influencers on the internet. Not seeing each other as people on social media is a mindset that can be damaging. Comparing yourself with others can lower your self-esteem and damage how you view yourself.

With filters and social media algorithms, it's easy to forget that the person on your screen is a real person. Managing the uncertainty others bring to social media or how it can potentially negatively affect you is difficult. However, we can all start by viewing each other as people, not products or things or images we'll never live up to.

Tips to make sure social media doesn't bring you down

It's essential to know your limits with social media. For Myers, who uses social media as part of her job, it's sometimes hard to separate it. Myers shared that the negativity she receives is sometimes hard to ignore. "It's been pretty difficult. It really has weighed on my mental health, the last couple of months, but I'm trying really hard to not engage with it."

Use these tips to help recognize when social media is becoming a negative influence on your mental health.

Don't just post because you feel like you need to

No matter how you use social media -- for your job or recreationally -- sometimes there is pressure to post. How else will your followers know what's going on with you?

"A lot of the time you'll see somebody have initial success, and people are amped and then they feel like they have to repeat that same success over and over and over and over again, or they will become irrelevant," Myers said.

Myers suggests that you shouldn't create or post out of desperation just to get something out there. When you use social media a lot and become emotionally dependent on the feedback you get, it can worsen symptoms of anxiety or depression. Don't treat yourself like a content mill that has to post to get likes. Social media is at its best when it's a supplement to your lifestyle, not everything.

"When I feel that pressure, that's when I feel the most burnt out, the most tired, the most resentful [toward] my audience, [toward] my job. And that's not healthy for my content, but it definitely isn't healthy for me, as a person, as a mom, as a wife, as a friend," Myers said.

Define your red flags and take a step back when you need to

This one seems obvious, but it can be one of the hardest to nail down. Being able to identify red flags for your mental health can help you take a step back from social media. Whether it is worsening feelings of anxiety or depression or feeling disconnected from those around you, there will be signs that you need to take a break. Check in on yourself and be intentional about noticing patterns in your mood, how you feel and the quality of sleep you're getting. This will help determine when you need to step away or take a digital detox.

Don't forget what social media can do

Social media doesn't have to be a place where you only display your best self. And it doesn't have to be a place where you engage with negative comments. When used intentionally, social media can be a really good thing.

Myers uses it to make people laugh and talk about mental health, but you can keep up with old friends, connect with others or even find new ways to decorate your living room. Social media can be a powerful way to bring awareness about issues and connect with others, but using it should never be at the expense of your mental wellbeing.

Need to Take a Screenshot on Windows 11? Here's How

Need to Take a Screenshot on Windows 11? Here's How

Screenshots are used for a variety of reasons. Maybe you're sending someone a photo of your screen over Slack to diagnose a problem, or you just need to take a quick snippet of an important document to save for later. Regardless of the reason, there are multiple ways to take a screenshot using a Windows 11 computer.

Whether you want to take a full-screen grab, you only want to capture part of the screen or you'd prefer to use a keyboard shortcut or application, the process is simple. Here are all the ways to take a screenshot on Windows 11.

Don't have Windows 11 yet? Check out these two important things you need to do before you can download Windows 11. And if you're unsure about updating, read more about the major differences between Windows 11 and Windows 10.

1. Take a screenshot of the entire screen

The easiest way to take a screenshot of your entire desktop is with the PrtSc key at the top of your keyboard. After tapping on the PrtSc key, the screenshot will be saved to your clipboard, although you won't receive any indication the screenshot has successfully been taken. To view the full-screen screenshot, use Ctrl-V to paste it into an application like Paint or Microsoft Word, or even into the body of an email.

2. Take a screenshot of the entire screen and save it to your computer

Similar to the first option, hitting the Windows-PrtSc keys will take a screenshot of your entire desktop, but it'll also save the screenshot to a folder on your computer. If you hit the keys correctly, your whole screen will flash, indicating the screenshot has been taken and saved. You can find all of your full-screen screenshots in Pictures > Screenshots.

You can take four types of screenshots: rectangular, freeform, window and full-screen.

3. Take a screenshot of only part of the screen

Not everyone wants a screenshot of their entire screen, which is why Windows 11 gives you the option to take only a partial screenshot. If you tap on Win + Shift +S, your screen will flash and a small Snipping Tool menu will appear at the top of the screen, allowing you to do the following (from left to right):

  • Rectangular Snip: Draw a box around what you want to capture
  • Freeform Snip: Draw any shape around what you want to capture.
  • Window Snip: Choose a window to capture.
  • Full-screen Snip: Capture your entire screen (same thing as PrtScr).

Once the screenshot's taken, it'll be saved to your clipboard, as with the PrtScr key option. You can then paste it elsewhere to look at it. However, if you click the Snipping Tool preview that appears at the bottom of the screen, you'll find options to edit the screenshot (crop, rotate and more) and save it to your desktop.

You can delay your screenshot by 3, 5 or 10 seconds.

4. Use the Snipping Tool to take delayed screenshots

The Snipping Tool comes built into Windows 11, and is the same tool used in the previous section, except with a few tiny additions. To use it, type in Snipping Tool in the Search feature and open the application to take a screenshot.

In Snipping Tool, if you click on New you'll open the mini Snipping Tool menu (like in the section before), where you can then choose between several different snips. However, with this full version of the Snipping Tool, you can choose any of the four snipping options (rectangular, freeform, window and fullscreen) and then choose a delay option. You can choose between a 3-, 5- and 10-second delay. This will give you a bit of time to set up whatever it is you're attempting to screenshot and might make it easier than taking the shot manually.

To take the delayed screenshot, simply hit Win-Shift-S, which will then be copied to your clipboard. You can also click on the screenshot preview that appears to make any edits or save it to your computer as a JPEG, PNG or other.

Rolls-Royce Spectre EV Will Have Trick New Suspension Tech

Rolls-Royce Spectre EV Will Have Trick New Suspension Tech

Rolls-Royce's first fully electric car, the Spectre coupe, is still working through its 2.5-million-kilometer testing process ahead of the first customer deliveries in late 2023. On Thursday it released a new set of images showing the Spectre on the lush roads of Southern France, and it confirmed a few new details about the electric coupe -- some of which are pretty rad.

For starters, the Spectre will have a new take on electronic roll stabilization. Lots of cars have active anti-roll tech, but what sets the Spectre's apart is the ability for the system to automatically turn itself on and off depending on the road condition.

Using the satellite navigation and Rolls-Royce's road-scanning cameras, when the Spectre detects a turn, the car's steering, braking, power delivery and dampers adjust so the coupe remains stable. When the road straightens out again, the system decouples the anti-roll bars. Rolls-Royce says this lets all four wheels act independently for a more solid straight-road ride.

Looks good.

Beyond that, Rolls-Royce says the Spectre is the stiffest car in the company's history, largely thanks to integrating the battery structure into the car's platform. The company also says that while it originally quoted a drag coefficient of 0.26, the latest testing actually results in a slipperier 0.25, making this Rolls-Royce's most aerodynamic car ever.

The Spectre's shape is reminiscent of the now-departed Wraith, though Rolls-Royce insists this new car does isn't a replacement for the old one. We're still loving the weird camouflage wrap that features quotes from company founder Charles Rolls, and the Spectre will have Rolls-Royce's updated Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament, too.

It's unclear exactly when Rolls-Royce will show the production Spectre, with the automaker only confirming deliveries will start by the end of next year.
