It's not exactly the ATV for everyone Tesla promised alongside the Cybertruck a couple years ago, but the Cyberquad for kids arrived this past Thursday. Telsa updated its store last week with this latest product, and to be fair, the carmaker said the ATV is suitable for "anyone 8 years old and up." I'd bet plenty of adults will try and take this for a ride, though do note Tesla says the maximum weight for riders is 150 pounds. Unfortunately, it's already sold out. As of Monday, the store page now says the toy is out of stock.
The ATV features a lithium-ion battery with enough juice to go 15 miles and boasts a top speed of 10 mph. When it's time to plug the Cyberquad in, it'll take five hours to top off the battery.
The design borrows from the Cybertruck, complete with a horizontal light bar and lots of angles. A full steel frame, disk brakes and an adjustable suspension are all part of the package as well. It weighs just 122 pounds, which is fraction of typical, full-blown 4x4 ATVs.
It's cool looking, for sure.

It's not a cheap toy, but that didn't stop people from snapping it up. The ATV costs $1,900 before shipping. Tesla also made no guarantee it would be ready for the holidays this month. Shipping times ranged between two and four weeks, according to the website. Perhaps Tesla has more Cyberquads coming, but it's clear, the demand is strong.

What if we told you that your blood type could potentially tip the scale when it comes to how healthy your heart is?
You wouldn't see it on the surface, but coursing through your veins every second of every day are tiny variations that categorize your blood into one of these groups: A+, A-, B+, B-, O+, O-, AB+ and AB-. Unless you've donated blood, were given a transfusion or found out during pregnancy, maybe you've never thought twice about your blood type and what it means for your health.
Knowing your blood type not only can be crucial in an emergency, but it can also offer some important insight into your health. Ongoing research into blood type suggests it may matter more than we give it credit for -- at least when assessing risk for certain health conditions, especially heart disease. These invisible differences in the blood may give some people an edge at staving off cardiovascular problems, and may leave others more susceptible.
What does blood type mean, and how are they different?
The letters A, B and O represent various forms of the ABO gene, which program our blood cells differently to form the different blood groups. If you have type AB blood, for example, your body is programmed to produce A and B antigens on red blood cells. A person with type O blood doesn't produce any antigens.
Blood is said to be "positive" or "negative" based on whether there are proteins on the red blood cells. If your blood has proteins, you're Rhesus, or Rh, positive.
The ABO system is the best known way of classifying blood types.

People with type O- blood are considered "universal donors" because their blood doesn't have any antigens or proteins, meaning anybody's body will be able to accept it in an emergency.
But why are there different blood types? Researchers don't fully know, but factors such as where someone's ancestors are from and past infections which spurred protective mutations in the blood may have contributed to the diversity, according to Dr. Douglas Guggenheim, a hematologist with Penn Medicine. People with type O blood may get sicker with cholera, for example, while people with type A or B blood may be more likely to experience blood clotting issues. While our blood can't keep up with the different biological or viral threats going around in real time, it may reflect what's happened in the past.
"In short, it's almost like the body has evolved around its environment in order to protect it as best as possible," Guggenheim said.
People with type O blood may have a lower risk of cardiovascular events.

The blood types most at risk for heart disease
People with type A, type B or type AB blood are more likely than people with type O to have a heart attack or experience heart failure, according to the American Heart Association.
While the increased risk is small (types A or B had a combined 8% higher risk of heart attack and 10% increased risk of heart failure, according to one large study) the difference in blood clotting rates is much higher, per the AHA. People in the same study with type A and B blood were 51% more likely to develop deep vein thrombosis and 47% more likely to develop a pulmonary embolism, which are severe blood clotting disorders which can also increase the risk of heart failure.
A reason for this increased risk, according to Guggenheim, might have to do with inflammation that happens in the bodies of people with type A, type B or type AB blood. The proteins present in type A and type B blood may cause more "blockage" or "thickening" in the veins and arteries, leading to an increased risk of clotting and heart disease.
Guggenheim also thinks this may describe the anecdotal (but currently inconclusive) decrease in risk of severe COVID-19 disease in people with type O blood, which has inspired research. Severe COVID-19 disease often causes heart problems, blood clotting and other cardiovascular issues.

Other consequences of blood type
People with type O blood enjoy a slightly lower risk of heart disease and blood clotting, but they may be more susceptible to hemorrhaging or bleeding disorders. This may be especially true after childbirth, according to a study on postpartum blood loss, which found an increased risk in women with type O blood.
People with type O blood may also fare worse after a traumatic injury due to increased blood loss, according to a study published in Critical Care.
Other research has found people with type AB blood might be at an increased risk for cognitive impairment when compared to people with type O. Cognitive impairment includes things like trouble remembering, focusing or making decisions.
Should I change my lifestyle based on my blood type?
While research available now shows that blood type can tip the scale in terms of someone's risk of developing heart disease, big factors such as diet, exercise or even the level of pollution you're exposed to in your community are the major players in determining heart health.
Guggenheim says that for patients trying to keep their heart healthy, there's no special recommendation that he'd make other than a good heart-healthy diet that lowers inflammation, regardless of someone's blood type.
Lean proteins, healthy fats, fruits, vegetables and whole grains are all part of a heart-healthy diet.

But, he notes, future research could offer more definitive ways doctors treat patients based on their blood type. All factors considered equally, a patient with healthy cholesterol levels and type A blood may benefit from taking aspirin each day whereas it might not be necessary for a person in the same boat with type O blood.
"A well-balanced, heart-healthy diet in general is going to be what any physician is going to recommend, and I would say that ABO doesn't change that," Guggenheim said.
"I don't think there's a protective benefit from just having type O blood that contributes to being scot-free," he added.

Paramount Plus may not be the first streamer to come to mind for horror, but it's home to several popular franchises, including Scream, A Quiet Place and Paranormal Activity. You can stream every movie from each series.
But the service also has a few nostalgic classics in the vault like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Carnival of Souls, Rosemary's Baby, Pet Sematary, Night of the Living Dead and 1980's Friday the 13th. Viewers will find roughly 200 scary movies on Paramount Plus, with many of them being recent releases. While Orphan and World War Z are among the familiar titles, there's an assortment of lesser known films too. Paramount Plus is $5 for the ad-supported version.
Other services we tested
Of course Netflix has its share of engaging horror movies too, but we wanted to focus on services that are either free or have deep investments in the genre -- like Shudder. We also looked at Peacock and it's appealing because of its Universal Pictures and SyFy catalog, but its library is smaller than most with roughly 160 movies. However, if you're a Comcast Xfinity Flex or X1 customer you can get Peacock Premium for free, so take advantage of its offerings.
We also checked out Showtime and Starz. Though both services provide a solid roster of new and old frights, the price isn't necessarily worth it when you can stream many of their titles on other services. However, HBO Max and Paramount Plus made the cut due to owning their own heavy franchise collections. HBO Max is also notable for its inclusion of animated and family-friendly scary movies.

What's happening
Scientists propose making wind turbine blades out of a new material that can be recycled into a myriad of common items.
Why it matters
It's difficult and expensive to recycle standard wind turbine blades made of fiberglass, so retired equipment typically ends up in a landfill.
Even wind power -- arguably the most established way to generate eco-friendly energy -- has an Achilles' heel.
Sky-high towers that source power from the wind are topped with enormous turbine blades, and these blades have to be replaced every so often. Thus, a hefty amount of old equipment must be disposed of, and in recent years, experts have debated whether such disposal meets environmentally friendly criteria.
Simply, the worry is whether wind turbine blades are recyclable. If not, perhaps dumping retired blades in landfills sort of negates the system's presumed sustainability in the first place. These blades are typically made of fiberglass, a material really hard to cut through, transport and repurpose into other things.
Though some experts have had success recycling the energy-catching tool, such as US startup Global Fiberglass Solutions, which used them to create 3D-printing feedstock, statistics show that most of the time, the artifacts are just added to piles of trash that emanate harmful gasses into the atmosphere and encroach on natural wildlife habitats. Why? It's ultimately cheaper.
However, scientists from Michigan State University, on Monday, offered their blueprints of an innovative way to address this issue. They developed a new form of wind turbine material that combines glass fibers with both plant-derived and synthetic polymers, which refer to long chains of molecules. The mixture is called a composite resin, and its hype lies in the fact that it can be recycled a lot more easily than pure fiberglass can.
Oh, and here's the best part: It can also be turned into delicious gummy bears.
"The beauty of our resin system is that at the end of its use cycle, we can dissolve it, and that releases it from whatever matrix it's in so that it can be used over and over again in an infinite loop," John Dorgan, a chemical engineer from MSU, who will be presenting the team's work at the fall meeting of the American Chemical Society, said in a press release. "That's the goal of the circular economy."
Basically, the team's novel resin can be separated into its constituent parts when its job as a wind turbine structure is complete. Crucially, this means the hard-to-handle glass fiber bits can be removed. Then, the resulting goop can be recast into new wind turbines, as well as a wide variety of other materials. And I mean wide.
It merely depends on which of the mixture's constituents you decide to pull out and manipulate.
When the researchers digested the resin in an alkaline solution, for instance, they received an acrylic substance that can be used in making windows and car tail lights. Raise the temperature during digestion and that yields a super-absorbent polymer instead, one often called on when making diapers.
This resin can also reincarnate as household countertops when melded with various minerals. "We've recently made a bathroom sink with the cultured stone, so we know it works," Dorgan said. And the dissolved material can be combined with plastics too, which gives rise to more luxe items, like laptop covers and power tools.
"We recovered food-grade potassium lactate and used it to make gummy bear candies, which I ate," Dorgan said. Not a Haribo fan? This chemical can also be made into sports drinks akin to Gatorade.

And if you're grossed out by the idea of eating a gummy version or a fruity beverage concoction built from an old wind turbine, Dorgan emphasizes that "a carbon atom derived from a plant, like corn or grass, is no different from a carbon atom that came from a fossil fuel ... it's all part of the global carbon cycle, and we've shown that we can go from biomass in the field to durable plastic materials and back to foodstuffs."
However, it's also important to note that so far, the team has manufactured only a prototype of its invention. And to get from prototype to final product, Dorgan explained, there's a bit of a limitation: "There's not enough of the bioplastic that we're using to satisfy this market, so there needs to be considerable production volume brought online if we're going to actually start making wind turbines out of these materials."
But should that hurdle be cleared, we may enter an era where our Macbook cases, iPhone charging cables, sturdy kitchenware and even gelatinous snacks are laced with the remnants of a veteran blade that once lived among the clouds.

Department of Justice officials on Thursday announced the arrest of a former manager of the cryptocurrency exchange platform Coinbase. Authorities arrested Ishan Wahi, 32, in Seattle on Thursday morning on four charges related to cryptocurrency wire fraud.
"Today's charges are a further reminder that Web3 is not a law-free zone," US Attorney Damian Williams said. "Fraud is fraud is fraud, whether it occurs on the blockchain or on Wall Street."
Law enforcement officials also arrested Wahi's 26-year-old brother Nikhil Wahi on Thursday on related charges. Authorities have indicted Wahi's friend Sameer Ramani, 33, but have not arrested him at this time.
Authorities said that between June 2021 and April 2022 Ishan Wahi would tip off his brother and Ramani when cryptocurrency tokens were about to be listed on Coinbase. Nikhil Wahi and Ramani then allegedly used anonymous cryptocurrency wallets to trade dozens of tokens, making about $1.5 million in profit.
"Although the allegations in this case relate to transactions made in a crypto exchange -- rather than a more traditional financial market -- they still constitute insider trading," FBI Assistant Director Michael J. Driscoll said. "Today's action should demonstrate the FBI's commitment to protecting the integrity of all financial markets -- both 'old' and 'new.'"
Ishan Wahi faces two counts of wire fraud conspiracy and two counts of wire fraud, and his brother faces one count each of wire fraud conspiracy and wire fraud. Ramani was indicted on one count of wire fraud conspiracy and one count of wire fraud.
Coinbase didn't immediately respond to CNET's request for comment.

The Versa 3 is a Fitbit smartwatch that combines the best features of the Charge 5 tracker with the "taking calls on your wrist" aspect of a smartwatch rather than purely a fitness tracker. Although Fitbit's best smartwatch and best Apple Watch alternative may not be quite as smart as its Apple or Galaxy Watch competitors, it does pair with an Android or iPhone and can also be paired with either Alexa or Google Assistant. One of the best features of the Versa 3 is its strong battery life -- up to six days without the "always on" display and with moderate use. (The Apple Watch, for comparison, has a less-than-ideal battery life of a day and a half.)
The more expensive Fitbit Sense provides more health data, but the relevance of all the data Sense gives you might be moot, depending on if you know how to read medical charts. You'll save money and lose little by going for the Versa 3 smartwatch instead.

The Inspire 2 comes with a free yearlong premium subscription so you can unlock personalized health insights and programs to help you improve your nutrition, sleep and other aspects of health.
The Inspire 2 doesn't have GPS, and it doesn't include special features such as being able to measure your blood oxygen level, but this tracker is a great (and more affordable) introduction to fitness tracking if you or someone you know is interested in monitoring their health information. The Inspire 2's included subscription to Fitbit Premium is also far more generous than other Fitbit models.

If you want to count your steps and look like you're wearing jewelry instead of a fitness device, the Fitbit Luxe is for you. It offers many of the same features as other Fitbits, such as goal-based workouts, but it does so in a smaller and more fashionable form that might be best for smaller wrists. (The design in general is smaller, so the text on the watch's screen may also be too small for some people to read.)
Aside from its sleeker appearance, the biggest difference between the Luxe and other models might be its focus on general wellness tracking over more specific health data. When the Luxe calculates your stress rate, for example, it uses activity levels, sleep and heart rate instead of an electrodermal activity sensor as seen in the Charge 5 and Sense.

This one is pretty simple: The Fitbit Ace 3 is specifically for kids to help track sleep and activity, two crucial things for young bodies. Goals can be set on the Ace 3 for active minutes as well as reminders for going to bed and staying active. For kids who have their own phone, the tracker can also deliver call notifications (you know, for when you forget to call Mom).
The Ace 3 comes in cosmic blue with green adjusters, black with red adjusters or a "Minions yellow" for kids who are fans of the goggle-eyed animated creatures.

Get ready for a new OLED TV player. Samsung is the top-selling TV brand worldwide, but its QLED televisions have never performed as well as OLED TVs made by rivals like LG. At CES 2022, Samsung tackled those rivals head on with its new QD Display, a new kind of big screen that relies on OLED technology.
The TV wasn't announced in an official press release like Samsung's other 2022 models. Instead, it appeared as a 2022 Best of Innovation award winner at CES.
"Samsung's 65-inch QD-Display TV is the world's first true RGB self-emitting Quantum Dot OLED display ... combining the contrast levels of RGB OLED with the color and brightness of quantum dots," the award's text reads. Other features mentioned include four HDMI 2.1 inputs, a 144Hz refresh rate, a "Neo Quantum Processor" and immersive sound.
Other details about the TV, including pricing, availability, images or screen sizes beyond 65 inches, are currently unclear. CNET reached out to Samsung for additional details and a representative replied, "All I can say at this time is that we'll have more to share about the 2022 TV lineup in the next several weeks." They added that the TV's name has yet to be determined.
A new kind of OLED TVs could have big implications for the high-end TV market. A company called LG Display currently manufactures all the OLED TVs available today, and supplies them not only to LG Electronics but also to Sony, Vizio, Philips, Panasonic and others worldwide.
QD-Display panels, first announced in 2019, are manufactured by Samsung Display and could be sold to not only Samsung but other brands, too. In fact Sony will sell its own QD-OLED TV later in 2022, and other brands could follow. More manufacturers of OLED TVs could mean increased competition and lower prices overall.
OLED is the gold standard among high-end TVs with perfect black levels, no stray illumination and excellent off-angle viewing. QD-OLED combines organic light-emitting diodes and quantum dots. With the current version of OLED, yellow and blue OLED materials create "white" light and filters mix in other colors. QD-OLED uses blue OLEDs to create light and quantum dots to convert some of the blue into red and green.
The benefits, according to Samsung Display, include better color overall, improved viewing angles and the same perfect black levels that conventional OLED is known for.

Current OLED TV panels manufactured by LG Display come in a variety of sizes and sale prices on OLED TVs have fallen below $1,000 for the smallest, least-expensive examples. I don't expect Samsung's QD-OLED TVs to offer as much variety or get as affordable, especially in their first year, and I'd be surprised if the picture quality improvement, if any, blows me away. There's also the question of how the next technology will hold up over time or handle potential burn-in.
That said, the mere presence of another kind of OLED TV -- and the competition it brings -- is good news for people who care about picture quality.
Samsung made numerous other TV announcements in advance of CES 2022, including its latest Neo QLED, MicroLED and The Frame models, a gaming hub with access to cloud services and a remote that harvests RF waves to recharge.
